In the land that is ruled by man We tell the story of Amir and Hassan Two boys together One a slave, both brothers to each other A story of betrayal And of social class portrayal Amir's goal is to atone for his sins And saving Hassan's child is the way he wins But many obstacles stand in his way Aseef, Taliban and an endless Afghanistan fray Succeed he does through hardship and trial A victory that was worthwhile To begin and end in peace Kite running together with the son of his brother Amir wishes he were no other
The story begins with a slave and an owner Both kind to each other They laugh, play, and learn like no other But one day this relationship is broken In one night, with no words spoken Their social classes drive the separation Out of proportion, beyond imagination Being filled with guilt And a tree beginning to wilt The owner must save his "friend's" child Even though the obstacles are not worth his while The war, fights, and terrorists compile But he must do it, and journey to an isolated isle Or go back to kite running And journey to the land, without any shunning
